Individual Learning
Individual paths to growth
We implement the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia V2.0 and provide a play-based curriculum that focuses on children’s social, emotional, cognitive, language, gross motor and fine motor development.
At Global Explorers, we run a strong educational program that combines guided activities and free choice activities throughout the day.
Building on each child’s interests and learning needs
Activities proposed target children’s learning needs for growth using their natural curiosity and topics of interest as a motivation.
Our project times allow children to investigate topics further as a group. Additionally, individual activities are planned for each child to address more specific needs: educators follow the planning cycle format (observe, assess, plan, implement, evaluate) to develop individual learning paths considering each child’s learning style.
While children learn a lot from each other, educators play an important role in regulating interactions and scaffolding learning. Regular assessment is a key factor to adequately plan further learning; assessment occurs on a daily basis through ongoing observation and more formally twice a year using detailed criteria checks.
Parents are invited to discuss their child’s progress at individual parent/teacher interviews at least twice a year. Other meetings can be organised at any time should the educators recommend the implementation of an individual plan for a child to respond to specific difficulties. Our centre also partners with parents and Inclusion Support services to respond to children with additional needs.
