A stimulating environment to learn

Our preschool room can welcome up to 28 children aged 3 to 5 years. It offers an ideal space to prepare children for their transition to school. The larger space is divided into different corners: a large mat for group times and story reading, a maths corner, a fine motor and literacy corner, a large corner for meals and quiet activities.

Additionally, each age group enjoys their own learning space in which educators implement specific smaller group experiences: the Joeys’ pouch is especially organised to cater for 3- to 4-year-old children and the Kangaroos’ outback gathers resources for 4- to 5-year-old children.

Preschoolers benefit from a strong school readiness program based on a play-based approach. 3- to 5-year-old children are like little sponges, soaking up knowledge and making connections. During this stage, their cognitive skills are blossoming. They are developing their attention span, memory, and problem-solving skills. They love exploring, asking questions, and engaging in imaginative play. Activities that encourage self-exploration or creativity and group activities are available all day long opening the door to a world of learning.

In our literacy program, we expose children to heaps of books about various topics in order to enhance their vocabulary and their syntax. Through fun and interactive activities, we practice letter recognition, letter sounds and develop a wide range of skills to lay a sound foundation for children to learn to read. Children also learn essential numeracy concepts using a large variety of mathematics resources and they practise their fine motor skills developing correct pencil grip to facilitate handwriting.

In short, we nourish children’s curiosity and help them grow into confident learners. We foster independence and resilience. Self-help skills are encouraged, and children refine social and emotional skills. They progressively get ready to operate in a school-based environment.
