Sleep and rest
A caring and peaceful environment
At Global Explorers Early Learning, we acknowledge that children need to rest or sleep to reset their body and get ready to embrace new challenges.
We implement a flexible routine allowing educators to respond to each child’s needs. We create a safe and peaceful environment for sleep or rest.
Pausing and recharging
We follow the children’s sleeping pattern communicated by parents and rely on cues observed amongst children’s behaviour to encourage children to slow down. Sleeping is an essential process when connections in the brain occur. As such, we do not wake up a child unless this is absolutely necessary.
When it is time to have a snooze, we follow children’s own routine. Soft toys and dummies are allowed from home when children are sleeping. Younger children sleep in one of our three cot rooms while older children sleep on a mat covered by a fitted sheet.
For sleeping children, we apply the Red Nose recommendations and check every 10 minutes that children are breathing normally. Our cots and mats are inspected regularly to identify any potential hazard.
