Teaching selfcare and personal safety

Health is a very serious topic at Global Explorers. Not only do we pride ourselves in keeping children healthy but more importantly we educate them in selfcare and personal safety. Our long-term goal is to equip children for life with healthy habits.

We implement the Munch and Move program recommended by the Department of Education: this program promotes children’s physical activity and healthy eating.

Children also experience a wide range of activities to understand how they can stay safe at all times: on the road, at the beach, in case of an emergency.

Excursions and incursions provide great opportunities to expose children to the real world and teach personal safety skills. Preschool children benefit from swimming lessons every Friday morning to develop swimming skills and understand water danger. It is a critical asset for children living in Australia.

At Global Explorers, we believe that physical activity is essential to children’s wellbeing. Physical skills are enhanced everyday through the implementation of Munch and Move activities. Lessons focus on developing fundamental movement skills from birth to five years:

  • stability skills such as stretching, bending, twisting, balancing,
  • locomotor skills such as crawling, walking, jumping, running, hopping, galloping, leaping, skipping,
  • manipulative skills such as catching, throwing, kicking, dribbling.

Moreover, children spend at least 3 hours a day actively playing outside.

Finally, we encourage healthy sleeping and eating. Food plays an important role in children’s development: children’s daily food intake is balanced, and we provide fruit and vegetables at various mealtimes.
