Toddlers / Koalas
A flexible environment to grow
Our toddler section welcomes up to 15 children aged from 2 to 3 years old. The indoor area offers a flexible space where children can explore multiple activities: the book corner, the construction shelf and the role play area are extremely popular when children are not involved in group activities.
Toddlers / Koalas
The toddler stage is short and intense. In the Koalas’ room, we are guiding and nurturing toddlers through many developmental milestones. The toddler stage is one of the most important year of children’s emotional development. We are passionate about supporting children to learn how to manage, communicate and work through these strong emotions. Social development is also a highly focused area of development in the toddlers’ room; we encourage positive interactions between children by verbalising how our actions impact those around us.
Children’s verbal communication begins to expand considerably and facilitates cognitive development. We encourage daily conversations in our room, expose our children to a variety of languages and put high importance on reading stories with the children each day, as this supports language growth.
Children’s gross motor abilities keep developing. They challenge themselves taking more risks. Children also show more interest in fine motor activities, using pencils and scissors. This helps them become more creative and respond to art and music in their own way.
In all the areas of learning, we value the importance of play and the significance play has on children’s development. Play is how children learn and we keep this philosophy in the forefront of our minds when planning and organising our rooms daily routines & programs.
Days in the Koalas’ room are very busy!
